From original dance to traditional culture, there are a lot of programs that everyone can enjoy !
As programs designed for foreigners to enjoy Japan’s traditional culture, we will be holding the following until the end of March. From April onwards please check for details on the official website (www.tokyo-tradition.jp/eng)
Try for yourself the ancient Japanese traditions of wazuma (Japanese magic), the improvised kamikiri (paper cutting) using nothing but a sheet of paper and a pair of scissors, kyokugei (umbrella-spinning, etc.) under the guidance of professionals.

The history of Nihon buyo (traditional Japanese dance) goes back about 400 years. You can try its simple moves wearing a yukata, and enjoy graceful and delicate movements unique to Japan.

From its origins as the music of kabuki theater, nagauta developed as music for the shamisen. Under careful instruction by professional musicians, you can play the shamisen and get to know nagauta.

You can enjoy a Noh performance in the greenery of a garden in the middle of the city. There will also be a workshop prior to the performance in which you can handle Noh masks and musical instruments etc.

We offer short programs for foreign visitors and others to enjoy authentic first-hand experience of traditional culture and performing arts including wazuma (Japanese magic). Events are free so everyone is welcome.
